best turbo for a stock d16y8?? i would say at least try to get the best and thickest head gasket you can get at leaSt 3mm thick so you can lower the compression a little. too much compression under boost and BOOM!!! it would make ur investment last a little longer. also upgrade your fuel inyectors. chipped p28 should do the trick. civic d16y8 compression test cylinder 2 charliccs. The engine redlines at 6,800 RPM and has a rev limit of 7,200 RPM. In contrast, the D16Z6 VTEC produced 125 horsepower at 6,600 RPM and 106 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 RPM. The Z6 had a higher redline of 7,200 RPM and a fuel cutoff of 7,400 RPM. The Z6 features more usable power at the low end, whereas the Y8 produces more of its power at the top end.
